Cheltenham's MP, Alex Chalk, has announced details of his third annual internship week for Cheltenham students, and is inviting applications from young people across the town.
Following on from the last two years' successful programmes, the internship will give twenty local students the chance to gain a valuable insight into the world of politics, as well as learning new skills and enhancing their CVs.
The course will take place over three days, from 16-18 August 2016, and is open for students aged 16-19.
Students will have the opportunity to take part in a variety of workshops and training sessions, including drafting a mock maiden speech and a press release. They will also participate in a debate in the Cheltenham Council Chamber and will learn more about the political process.
Commenting on the programme, Mr Chalk said: ''Last year's internship week was really positive and generated excellent feedback. This is an important part of engaging young people with the democratic process. It helps young people learn new skills and gain valuable CV points. I'm delighted to be able to offer this opportunity to another 20 local students this year."
The internship course is open to all Cheltenham students. Interested parties should apply by emailing Alex Chalk's office on nicky.sadler@parliament.uk, attaching a copy of their CV and a covering note explaining why they would like to take part. The deadline for applications is Friday 29 July.
