Alex was invited to visit the Cheltenham Regeneration and Repair Cafe at St Andrew's Church.
The repair cafe is staffed by volunteers who repair small electrical items, textiles, knives and tools so that less items are discarded as 'unfixable'.
The cafe is a collaboration between the University of Gloucestershire, Vision 21, St Andrew’s Church and the Gloucestershire Joint Waste Team.
Speaking after the event, Alex said:
"It's time to turn a corner on the throwaway consumer society. I want to see our country rediscover the 'make do and mend' culture of previous generations to drive down cost and waste."
Repairs take place on the 1st Saturday of the month between 10:00-1:00 and new volunteers are always welcome.
