Alex has welcomed news that graduates applying to train as teachers in high priority subjects will receive increases to tax-free cash bursaries and scholarships from next year.
Bursaries worth £27,000 and scholarships worth £29,000 will be available from September 2023 to draw talented trainees into the highest-priority science, technology and mathematics (STEM) subjects.
Alex said: "We are extremely lucky to have such dedicated and talented teachers in Cheltenham and I welcome that the introduction of over £180 million of tax-free bursaries will ensure that we can continue to attract the brightest and the best graduates to the teaching profession."
