Alex was invited to join Cheltenham's Hong Konger community for breakfast. The community has come to the UK following the Communist Party crackdown in Hong Kong. They spoke so warmly about how grateful they are to have been offered safety and security in our country.
Writing on Facebook, Alex said:
"I was delighted to be invited to join the Cheltenham Hong Konger community for breakfast last Friday.
"This remarkable group of brave, resilient and principled people left Hong Kong following the PRC crackdown. It was moving to hear how grateful they are for the warm welcome they have received in the safety of Cheltenham, and also to learn more about the contribution they are already making to our community.
"Thank you to all those who are helping our Hong Konger friends to settle in."
