Cheltenham MP Alex Chalk has welcomed the award of an extra £2.5million to help winter pressures on Gloucestershire’s social care.
This funding will ease pressure on the health system, and follows the announcement of £145 million to improve emergency care within the NHS this winter.
The money will pay for home care packages to help patients get out of hospital quicker, reablement packages to help patients carry out everyday tasks and regain mobility and confidence, and home adaptations.
Alex Chalk said:
“The £2.5million is a very welcome boost. I know how tough the winter months can be on both adult social care services and the NHS. This funding will help people to leave hospital without delay when they are discharged, freeing up beds and alleviating winter pressures on the NHS.”
