Alex Chalk is urging people across Cheltenham to nominate their local favourite small business as party of the Conservative Party's national campaign.
Nominations will compiled ahead of Small Business Saturday on 7 December 2013, where businesses across the UK will be celebrated for the hard work that they do.
Alex commented, “Our independent shops across the town are a key part of making Cheltenham such a desirable place to live. I want us to champion our local businesses and recognise them for the contribution they make. As the economy begins to heal, we can see that it is small and medium size enterprises that are a key driver of the recovery. Let’s thank those entrepreneurs whose hard work generates jobs here in Cheltenham and underpins the wider UK economy.”
The Favourite Small Business campaign is being backed by Prime Minister David Cameron who commented, “While there is still a long way to go, our economy is turning a corner – and Britain’s small businesses can claim a big share in this revival. Small businesses are the lifeblood of our economy – providing nearly half of all private sector jobs. And since 2010 we’ve seen over 300,000 of them start up.”
This comes days before Alex will welcome Geoffrey Clifton-Brown MP and Minister of State for Trade and Investment Lord Green to the Queens Hotel in Cheltenham. Alex Chalk and Geoffrey Clifton-Brown MP are hosting the inaugural event of the Cheltenham and Cotswold Business Club which will see business people across Cheltenham and the Cotswolds gather together and share ideas.
