After ten years of campaigning (see the 2014 photo, with Alex looking a little younger…) this vital Air Balloon infrastructure investment project is well underway.
Alex began campaigning for action back in 2013, before he was an MP, and vowed that if elected, he would fight to deliver a solution for our town.
Now after ten years, five Transport Secretaries, four route proposals, three House of Commons questions to the Prime Minister, one public inquiry and countless meetings with Highways officials, the scheme is taking shape.
Alex visited the site with the other Gloucestershire MPs (including Gloucestershire's own Transport Secretary, Mark Harper MP). Writing on Facebook, Alex said:
"It’s happening! After ten years of campaigning (see the 2014 photo, looking a little younger…) this vital Air Balloon infrastructure investment project is well underway.
"For Cheltenham this means we become a better place to invest and create jobs. It will also cut congestion and pollution - and also road deaths at this notorious accident black spot.
"Great too to see the latest plans to protect biodiversity, including returning much of the existing/old road to nature!"
