Alex Chalk was first elected as Cheltenham's MP in 2015 and was re-elected in 2017.

Alex was a member of the Justice Select Committee which scrutinises the work of the Government in this area. In addition to this, Alex was a Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Pro Bono and Public Legal Education; Vice-Chair of the APPG on Cycling; Vice-Chair of the APPG on Bees; Vice-Chair of the APPG for Ancient Woodland and Veteran Trees; Vice-Chair of the APPG for Town & City Centres; and a member of the APPG for Highways Maintenance.

Alex was also recently the Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) to the Foreign Secretary.
