Alex travelled to Santiago to lead discussions with his Chilean counterpart on issues of mutual defence concern, and to deepen the close military and political relationship between the UK and Chile - particularly important given UK interests in the South Atlantic.
In the course of the talks, which were described as "warm and productive", Alex was delighted to observe how familiar the Subsecretaria de Defenso and his team were with the work of Cheltenham's GCHQ.
