Alex joined swimmers at the Motor Neurone Disease Association Sandford Lido swimathon to help raise vitals funds for the MND Association.
The MND Association help to fund research, improve care and provide support for people with MND, their families and carers. 26 swimmers participated and £7,000 was raised for the MND Association.
Writing on Facebook, Alex said:
"Amazing turnout at the Sanford Parks Lido on Sunday to fundraise for MND Association Sandford Lido swimathon. I managed a derisory one kilometre (20 lengths), but many congratulations to the swimmers who knocked off 2k (40 lengths).
"There is a 1 in 300 risk of getting Motor Neurone Disease across a lifetime, and many of us will know of someone affected by this cruel disease, including here in Cheltenham. But with £50m recently committed for UK research, there is hope for the future."
