Alex has welcomed news the Government has awarded NHS Gloucestershire £2.5 million to fund cutting-edge equipment to support clinical research into heart disease.
The investment will fund a new cardiac-enabled magnetic resonance imaging (cMRI) scanner to support non-invasive and safe methods for assessing physiological markers of heart disease.
This will facilitate the early detection of heart disease and improve clinical understanding of therapeutic interventions.
The funding will also be used to provide equipment for studies focusing on eye conditions.
