Alex has welcomed news that schools in Cheltenham will be funded at their highest level in history, receiving over £3.5 million in additional Government funding.
The investment is part of the Government's plan to give schools in England their highest ever funding in real terms, totalling almost £60 billion for 2024-25.
Before Alex was elected, Cheltenham’s schools had some of the lowest per pupil funding in the country. After leading a long campaign, Alex was able to persuade ministers to alter the national funding formula, boosting income for Cheltenham's primary and secondary schools .
Alex said:
"We are extremely lucky to have so many wonderful schools here in Cheltenham, with such dedicated and talented teachers.
"So I welcome that schools in Cheltenham will receive a £3.5m cash boost, which will help our schools to continue to give our young people the best possible chance to go as far as their talents will take them."
