Alex has called for action at CGH and GRH over the backlog of patients who remain in Gloucestershire hospitals despite being fit for discharge.
The national average of patients in hospital fit for discharge is 14%, but in Gloucestershire the figure is closer to 30%. That in turn reduces capacity to accept admissions at the hospitals' 'front door'.
At a recent meeting between Gloucestershire MPs and local health leaders, Alex stressed that Gloucestershire's MPs want to see a plan for recovery, with a trajectory and timeline.
Alex said: "Staff in our hospitals are working extremely hard, and it is essential that Trust managers, working with other stakeholders, ensure those efforts are directed at driving down the number of people who are medically fit for discharge.
"Gloucestershire's NHS is performing really strongly in elective recovery, but the situation in acute and emergency care needs urgent attention."
