I was delighted to be joined recently by the Conservative Party chairman Grant Shapps MP on a visit to see Cheltenham Borough Homes’ new St. Paul’s Walk development. We were grateful to CBH’s chief executives Paul Stephenson and Stuart Hutton for showing us around. The project consists of 48 new affordable homes as well as the successful transformation of 93 existing homes in the St. Paul’s area. It was particularly impressive hear about the hard work and commitment to involve the local community in shaping the regeneration of this area. In my view, key community engagement in large planning projects is essential. Cheltenham is a lovely town and I believe that it is vitally important to ensure that our more deprived areas don’t get left behind. Projects like this are vital in creating a safer and more community-orientated neighbourhood. Grant was extremely impressed and complimented CBH on being a model ALMO, Arms Length Management Organisation.
