I decided to spend some time last Saturday morning taking a look at some of the roads that have been most badly affected by the tough winters of late. The top of Old Bath Road as well as The Reddings towards the other end of town are particularly bad. I know from first-hand experience the effect that these potholes are having on our cars. It is hitting motorists in their pockets.
I'm pleased therefore that Gloucestershire County Council has committed to giving every councillor on the authority £20,000 to tackle potholes in their local areas. This move forms part of over £5 million of extra investment in roads above existing budgets that the Council has agreed this year. I will be working alongside Conservatives in Cheltenham to ensure that residents get good value for money in terms of resurfacing and repairing roads.
